I’m taking about the movie, no idea it was a book. If you prefer despise or loathe, sure, it’s not like I think people should die over it but if you’re a sniveling child who insists on clinging to pointless delusion to enjoy your media then I hate you.

So.... not hyperbole and needing to dial it down back to like, 12/10 instead of 113/10, okay. Gotcha.

I just don't think it's what happens in this movie. I wouldn't have a problem if it did, there are things that I like that have that twist ending.

Also, even if I didn't like that trope, this is still fucking absurd.

OP, you sound more like a sniveling child than anyone else in this thread. seriously WTF.

There are Mars storyline scenes that Quaid is not in. If the whole thing is his hallucination, then those scenes should be cut. Movie doesn't make sense without them? Well, he's having a mental breakdown, so it doesn't make sense.

But the filmmakers made sure the "it was real" interpretation did make sense, and they put scenes of it happening outside of hallucinations into the movie.

Sorry your hatred of fun and fantasy overpowers your ability to look at textual evidence.

That's why I come down on the "it was real" side of the debate, too.

I don't know about your dreams or fantasies, but mine have scenes I'm not in, so that's not especially convincing.

Wait, so you have a really strong reaction to the idea it's not a fantasy, and yet have no idea it was based on a book that might give other pointers one way or another? Eesh.
