Tried not dying trying to get to work. We had an ice storm last night (with LIGHTNING). It was rough.

Our ice storm wasn't quite so bad, but we had a lot of melting and re-freezing and my garage door was frozen shut this morning (Friday) with ice that had melted off my car or garage floor and then quickly re-frozen while flowing out under the door. I had to chip at the ice slick with a crowbar to free the door from the ice before I could get my car out!

Got Starbucks and a mani-pedi! My toenails are bright blue creme and my fingernails are cement gray creme with a mixed silver glitter topcoat. They look fab but at first I wasn't too sure about the gray creme/silver glitter combo (I don't usually do gray polish), but it's grown on me since and I really like it now.

Got an offer for a 6-month contract position, made progress on getting a therapist, am now in a pit of depression and despair for no articulable reason

Worked on a really tough appeal brief. Basically, client had lied to us, and once we got the transcript of the hearing, we realized that the grounds we were going to appeal on wouldn't work. So I had to find something that we could appeal and write a brief on that.

Not my department, but my boss was pissed, so I expect it will happen.

Not much. It's a nice change of pace seeing as how yesterday was my birthday & I've been partaking in birthday-adjacent activities since Saturday, mostly.

So only having to go to work an hour early & getting to leave a half hour early & being quietly productive has been really nice.

Also during the work day I listened to Lauv & Troy Sivan's i'm so tired... nonstop in the car. I bought it last night after hearing them perform it on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and now I'm obsessed.

had a late birthday lunch at one of my favorite seafood restaurants. Clam chowder, crab, prawn and oyster cocktail and a glass of Sauvignon Blanc. yummers!

it was lunch and it was awesome as hell. it was at this great old school seafood place in San Francisco called Swan.

Went to work, came back from work, ate and fell asleep. I have a day off tomorrow so I'll try to do all the things I've been holding back on doing.

Had swiss cheese melted on toast for breakfast, got to the mental health clubhouse an hour late because of fog and umpteen speed traps along the way, ate a hummus and mozzarella sandwich for lunch (with onion rings given to me by a staff member), had a weights workout for a half hour, and then drove to a library out of town. I bought a Mary Englebreit cookbook for US $2 dollars. Then I went shopping for hair ties, and snacked at a shmancy coffee spot with peppermint tea, yogurt, and an extra dark chocolate square. Had takeout for dinner - a nice grilled chicken salad with onion honey mustard dressing.
I have just finished my evening by paying all my bills for the month. Good thing that I still have gift cards from Christmas, or I might be kind of strapped for cash. Car excise tax is still due next month, though. Eek.
