Quit citing plot. The writers put it in there to be edgy as all fuck.

Old DMC wouldn't have done this, because they knew how to be over to top without being downright shock-factor violent misogynist. "Over the top" in old DMC is Dante blowing up a heart shape because he can. Not "shooting a pregnant woman who looks like a fucking human and emphasizing it heavily." The plot and writing doesn't exist in a fucking vacuum.

Yes, you're absolutely right, this is clearly the result of a bunch of dudes sitting around a dimly lit table, Grinch smiles spread wide over their faces, rubbing their hands together as they say in unison, "let's make sure we kill a pregnant woman!" Not that, you know, a character in their game, who is a demon, with another demon inside her, should go out in a tone-appropriately spectacular manner. You're positing a lot of intent that more than likely doesn't exist.
