So, the actual reason that you think people are "a conservative, pearl-clutching moral guardian" is because they interpreted the trailer differently than you did.

They saw a trailer and went, "that's morally reprehensible!"

I saw a trailer and went, "that looks like fun!"

Which is like... the entirety of my fandom experience in the 2010s come to think of it.

One, I didn't get any of those notes from the trailer. Two, I don't think it's being a pearl-clutching moral guardian to have a problem with someone making a movie that's clever and ironic about the actual crimes of an actual serial killer.
