And a presentation of that story that focuses on the normal, charming, sexy facade is bad. The important thing is that he was all of those things, and also a serial killer. The trailer, at the very least, did a really poor job of getting that message across.

... the trailer, which is meant to project a surface image. You know, exactly the same way Bundy himself did. I'm really not seeing why it seems to be coming as such a surprise to people that the trailer for a movie about a serial killer whose entire modus operandi was being a handsome, charming young man would show the serial killer as a handsome, charming young man.

I'm sure the movie itself will deconstruct that image, but trailers often aren't anything like the actual movie itself.

It's possible that the trailer is misrepresenting the movie. That would make it a bad trailer, and I don't see where there's a problem with people saying it's a shitty trailer and that if it's accurate to the movie then it's going to be a shitty movie.
