Not at all, imo.
The fact the fic reminded you of a loved one enough to want to comment on it is a very good compliment in my mind.

If you're worried, or if it bothers you, you don't even need to mention that she's passed on, just that it reminds you of her. Speaking in the past tense might be a subtle way to fudge the lines between bringing up your loss, and talking just about how their work affects you.

(if that makes any sense?;; I've accidentally infodumped on an author before about a loss, and while they we very kind I probably wouldn't recommend going that far about it;;)
