That's not luck so much as it's normal.

Um, no. I 100% agree with you that it's something to aspire to, and personally I think it's worth holding out for. But it's definitely not the norm. Of the married pairs I've known in my life, I'd say maybe one in five had this kind of abiding friendship with each other. The other four out of five don't even come close.
