I do this too. I also talk to random animals I see. And I talk to animals on the tv screen. I know they don't understand (or even hear in some cases). But it make me happy, so I keep doing it. My kitty gets it the most, though. And she does respond to the sound of my voice, even if she doesn't know what I'm actually saying. She perks up when she hears me, and it makes me happy.

Hee, yeah. My cats pay *attention*, and they know when i'm sweet-talking them, for sure, and when i'm telling them to stop, for the love of fucking gods, getting under my feet as i'm going downstairs!!

That is how I will die: in my polar bear fleece pjs and fuzzy slippers, at the bottom of the basement stairs, surrounded by spilled laundry. Because one of those little furry idiots just *had* to dart down in front of me and then stop *dead* practically under my foot.

My cat does the same thing. Thankfully we don't have stairs. But she's tripped me a couple times and nearly tripped both my parents. It was particularly bad after my dad broke his hip and was using a walker. She thought the walker was a toy and couldn't understand why she wasn't allowed to play with it while he was using it. I used to have to go and pick her up and move her every time he was trying to walk around.

OH jeez. They are so lovely and so damn annoying at the same time. Right now, I'm typing while looking through ears and whiskers, as Kitten (Diana if you wanna be formal) is up investigating my drink. If it were water or juice, she'd take a sip, but soda doesn't do it for her, heh.

(What cat likes grape juice? I ask you.)

Ha. That's one problem I don't have. My cat is the pickiest eater ever. Tuna. That's pretty much all she likes. Tuna wet food, tuna dry food, tuna treats. The only time she's ever interested in my food is if I'm having a tuna sandwich.

Funny - unless its the tuna from a can (which has much too much sodium for cats), my cats hate fish. Well - they won't eat dry fish-flavored kibble, nor treats. Any other flavor is okay, except for my fluffy-cat, Oliver.

He will eat nothing but the dry kibble; won't touch wet food, treats, or any kind of human food whatsoever. He will occasionally take a lick of milk. I had to go through five types of food until i found a dry kibble he'd eat after he decided he didn't like Taste of the Wild anymore.

The little jerk.

Cats are so silly. Which is part of why we love them so much. But they are silly, and each of them has it's own quirks.

I used to have a cat that liked peanut butter.

We had a cat that liked cashews. And then there's Oliver, who hates everything but dry kibble.

Silly creatures.

My mom has accidentally stepped on one of our cats' tail a few times because she will just randomly stop walking and sit down right in the middle of the hallway or room my mom's passing through, and my mom isn't always able to stop in time behind her as a result.

And then there's the times when that same cat will just kind of meander in front of you, like it doesn't occur to her that people are trying to walk by or anything. You wind up trying to get around her the way you would if you're attempting to pass somebody walking very slowly down the sidewalk or something :p.
