I don't even download them in the first place cause I know I'm weak.

Yup. Thank goodness I finally quit the ones that require constant grinding to keep up. Because what you don't spend in money, you do spend in time. But the difference between that, and grinding in some action/adventure or JRPG you did buy with your own money, you won't feel that sense of satisfaction because some piece of shit who is either secretly a developer or sadly, a wallet warrior who is a slave to the cycle, will pound the shit out of you thirty seconds after you've reached the next level.

Maybe 100$ over the 8 years I've been on this site.

Won't put a dollar value on it. But sure I'll buy a fremium path or $2.99 to get a version without ads.

I think a few hundred total. Flight Rising and a couple Facebook games.

I think I spent $5 on Pokemon Go when it first came out. That is it.

Zero.

I probably threw over $200 at Gaia during the years I was active and now I'm locked out of my account for some reason so I can never do anything with my spoils.

I spent $20 on coin bundles a couple times over my two years of playing Flight Rising. But I don't feel bad at all, I pay real money for other games and if I'm getting that much entertainment out of something, sending a little something to the creators seems reasonable.

Then again, I've never spent anything on Pokemon Go and I've played that every day since day 1. I wouldn't feel guilty if I did, but it's just easy enough to get coins in the game that there's no need.

None. Even if I didn't realize it was a scam, I still don't have the money to waste on buying imaginary things.

Nada, but I've been tempted.

Nothing, only because I know it's a slippery slope and I'm bad enough at money management as it is. I still eye up the stacks of coins in Pokemon Go every now and then because barely anyone in my area is on my team and it's a bitch getting them through gyms.

Maybe $1,000 or so if we're counting every single game I've played over the years. I don't see tossing a few bucks at a game I'm enjoying as being any worse than the people who buy Starbucks every day: you're spending a few bucks on something that gives you temporary enjoyment.

Plus, if I'm really enjoying a game, then I want to support its creators so they can create more content for the game.

Easily a couple thousand in the last five years. That being said, I budget for it and see it the same way as buying a video game or a bunch of books. It makes me happy, so who cares.

I refilled lives in candy crush once when I was dealing with bad anxiety and found the repetition soothing.

Accumulatively?

Maybe $500 over the years. I like supporting the servers. It's like donating to freeware developers but you get something cool back.

I bought a few things in Crossy Road a few years ago, and dropped a couple of bucks here and there, but not much or often, and nothing for some time. I've been cutting back on things like that, and don't even buy as many books as i used to. Also I don't really play many games these days.

Maybe $100? Could be more, but not more than $300 over the last five years. I have to be pretty into a game before I decide to drop money on it, I don't want to toss out money on something I could lose interest in a week from now.

Relatedly, I saw a screenshot on Twitter of a person who had spent about $130,000 on a gacha game over the last two years. That legitimately horrifies me. How does someone spend that amount of money? Are they rich, or deep in credit card debt, or both?

A few hundred bucks. I was having fun, I could afford it, why not?

I spent somewhere between $15 and $30 on Spiral Knights. I wonder if they ever opened up the hatch at the bottom of Cradle.

I've subscribed to Rift now and again since it launched in 2011 because I liked what they were doing with lore and character design more than certain subscription MMOs. Other than that, I generally spent the few dollars to turn off ads for apps I feel are well designed, but it's nothing near the stories I've heard of people pouring $500 a month into Candy Crush.

idk, probably about a grand. I buy a lot of gem stuff on Flight Rising and I don't have time to grind for cash.

I've probably spent at least $200 on Animal Crossing Pocket Camp. No regrets.
