Re: What's the difference between preachy and nuaced for you?

Preachy is when it sounds like they're quoting a pamphlet, or a meme, or being super-heavy handed.

Nuanced is...well...not very many writers seem to *get* nuanced, or at least seem to employ it.

(Tries to think of a nuanced 'message moment' - really can't.)

For me I think it's the difference between 'showing' and 'telling'.

Nuanced is when the characters are shown to experience a certain situation and the viewer is then left to interpret the message themselves.

Preachy is when the characters experience a certain situation and then the show explains to the audience why that was a good or a bad thing.
