Favorite Bad Episodes

What are your favorite episodes of a TV series, or movies or books in a series, that everyone in the fandom hates but that you totally love? Ironically, nostalgically, sincerely, whatever.

Well, I liked almost all of the episodes this past series of Doctor Who, including the ones that everyone hates. The only one I didn't love was the series final, and I wouldn't say I hate it.

I also like Let's Kill Hitler, In the Forest of the Night, Daleks in Manhatten/Evolution of the Daleks, The Long Game, The Rings of Ahkaten, and The Crimson Horror (a really great episode).

IA on Rings of Akhaten and Crimson Horror. They're very fun romps. Very charming very likable.

I always have to hide the fact that I don't hate Let's Kill Hitler when talking to my fandom friends. I just really enjoyed remembering in random spots that while all this craziness is happening, Hitler is stuffed in a random cupboard wondering what the hell is going on.

I also love The Doctor's Wife, which is apparently the ultimate polarizing episode. It's so much fun!

The Doctor's Wife is polarizing? I thought that was loved. I love it too.

I've seen it cause a few arguments, lol. People who love it tend to love it a lot, and people who hate it tend to hate it a lot, with hardly anyone in between.

The "Weekend" episode of My So-Called Life. Tween!Me thought it was funny and liked how different it was from the rest of the show. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

On Star Trek TNG, there was Night Terrors. It's not very good, but that scene in the middle where Dr. Crusher has the waking nightmare with the corpses creeps me out every time.

There's also Masks, which a lot worse than Night Terrors, but the mythology was so fascinating, I love it anyway. Still it makes me want to scream because they didn't explain anything. I want to know more! Like, what exactly was going on?

TNG - The Royale. It's such a dumb episode but I love how much fun the silly 1930s set and costumes and everything are.

Classic Who - Delta and the Bannermen. People hate this episode, and I admit that it's kinda dodgy, but like... if you don't want to watch an episode where the Doctor goes to a 1950s holiday camp to stop an alien genocide and also he rides a motorcycle. It's just such a fun collision of ideas and it's exactly what Doctor Who should be to me. I love it.

Welsh proto-Ace is criminally underappreciated! I could watch an entire series about her.

I love S1 of Buffy. I feel like a lot of people just can't with Buffy S1 because it's so dang campy - and boy is it ever. But I was 14 when I got into Buffy, and S1 was special to me because it was when Buffy (who I worshiped) was closest in age to me. For like two years I emulated Buffy's S1 style - micro-minis, bouncy bangs and all. And that feeling of attachment to S1 never really wore off (even though I'm 30 now, lol).
