I've never had pickled onions, but I'd try one. I do love a nice sharp cheddar.

Cheese and pickle refers to Branston pickle though, which I think has onions but not just onions. :)

They are delicious though!

I love the idea that he carries spare sandwiches! He's just such an adorable character. And, it seems practical!

I actually made a cheese and dill slice sandwich once when there wasn't much else in the house to eat, and it was surprisingly tasty!

I can see where carrying sandwiches can be a potential problem for real, though, yes :p. Maybe there's some other food you could use as your "emergency" pick instead?

That's why they're cheese and pickle. Two things that keep, and won't spoil very quickly. Other than bread molding over a long period of time maybe, if you keep them in some tight plastic wrap they'd probably keep for days or longer.
