Okay? I mean, the basic story was very obvious. But there were subtle bits. Like single lines that made clear that Palpatine had been manipulating more people for longer than might be obvious. And exactly what Palpatine's plans were (see a comment I made above for what steps I think the movies gave us).

None of that was subtle, nor was it meant to be. "Tell, don't show" Lucas likes subtlety about as much as Anakin likes sand.
