It's been stormy and pouring rain all day. I showered and dressed and got Starbucks, then had a mani-pedi appointment so my nails are bomb again, yay! Then I got lunch and went to the store because I wanted some dark chocolate. I'm at home now, wishing the wind would stop. Going to read a little bit and then later tonight I'll watch The Masked Singer (a goofy show but I like it lol).

Went to work. Flirted with a guy on the phone. Was really sick. Now I'm home, watching Judge Judy with my mother.

I met him in the doctor's office. He seems nice. We're seeing where this goes. Probably going to go out next week.

Worked! Got into a long conversation with a really nice lady about Pokemon cards, her son's collecting shiny ones and I have a mountain of them from when I was little, so currently sorting through them to give to her tomorrow. I forgot I had so many. No wonder I never had any cash.

cleaned the kitchen - mainly the hob bit - then messaged the landlord to let him know the cooker (or its electrics) are buggered

well i'm not going to let an electrician in to see a kitchen that looks like a bomb went off in it ;)

Worked late, then went grocery shopping, now I'm home.

I'm debating whether to just go to bed because it's been a long week already and I have a headache, but tempted to stay up because of TV/shipping reasons lol.

Today was the one year anniversary of my horse's death, so my mom and I went and left carrots on his grave. I arranged 'em into a a little heart shape. I've done that several times over the past year on various special occasions, like the anniversary of the day I bought him or his birthday, but this time I also went down to the stables and interacted with the other horses for a bit as well. It's the first time I've even been within 5 feet of a horse since he died, much less petted one. It was bittersweet. I've missed being around horses, and it was nice being able to give out chin-scratchies and neck-rubs again, but at the same time it was incredibly painful looking out at the pasture where Sharif lived and feeling his absence so strongly. I miss hearing his nicker whenever he saw me pull up to the barn, I miss his trademark Coy Approach that he'd do whenever he saw me heading for the pasture gate with his halter, knowing that he was about to get treats and a good pettin'. I miss how he'd rub his head all over my back (or anyone's back, really) like I was his own personal scratching post. I miss the way his lip would wiggle whenever I'd use the curry comb on that special spot on his back right below his withers, and how he was always so good about letting me clean his hooves, and how he just loved to be groomed and dressed up for Halloween. I miss how he'd silently steal treats out of people's pockets (I was trying to teach him to go for wallets, but no such luck), and the way he'd bow and shake hands on command if he knew there was a cookie in it for him. I even miss how he'd fuss like a little kid when I'd put sunscreen on his nose in the summer. Most of all I miss how loving and gentle he was. Give him a peppermint or show him the slightest bit of affection and he'd be your friend for life. He was especially gentle and patient with children.

I know that I was so, so lucky to have him in my life for 20 years and that I should just be grateful for that, but no amount of time spent with Sharif could ever possibly have been long enough. I know it's cliche and more than a little melodramatic, but I feel as though a large chunk of my soul was ripped away when he died.

So yeah, that was my day.

I'm sorry, cakemage. It sounds like a very bittersweet occasion, but I hope with time the sweet overtakes the bitter for you and leaves you with just your lovely memories of Sharif.

Thanks, I appreciate the offer. Sharif really was an amazing horse, and as beautiful as he was to look at, his personality was even more beautiful. I honestly do wish that everyone here (and all of my online friends, really) could have met him, as he loved attention and loved being with people, especially if those people had any food they were willing to share. He wasn't picky.

*hugs back* I appreciate your kindness, anon. I know I've said this before, but one thing I've always loved about this comm is that no matter how much we all argue or how many petty wankfests or pointless internet slapfights we get into here, when it comes to the important stuff like this, we support each other. It's one of the main reasons I've stuck around for over a decade.

This morning I took a bath and washed my hair and I didn't put any gel in it because I usually don't have to, and when I went into the bathroom at work I realized it looked like hell. So yeah, I worked and did a little grocery shopping and regretted my hair.

mostly stayed home and watched TV because I have bronchitis. briefly went out in the late afternoon/early evening for tea and reading and listening to music at a cafe because I was feeling a bit better and EXTREMELY cabin fever-y and then out for pizza and beer because some friends asked me. Came home recently and am having another drink and listening to more music.

I failed both to finish my Aromantic pride scarf before Valentine's Day and to go to bed early. I'm very not proud of myself at the moment.
