What is your nipple to realistic art style threshold?

A friend and I were talking about anime nipples and how it's weird that semi-realistic art styles like Free don't have nipples. Then the topic was brought up how stylized does an art style have to be for no nipples to look okay.

Personally, if they have a nose, they gotta have nipples too.

Where's the line for you?

totally pro nipple. and forever salty at anyone who leaves them out, including game renders of shirtless men.

I don't really consider anime styles realistic or not, I feel like leaving out nipples is just. some kind of weird censorship? some kind of odd standard for the industry? thank god my pirates have nipples even if it's just a quickly drawn circle.

I figured it was because they're harder to animate. Princess Jellyfish has nipples.

...with nipples. Never mind that they all are drawn without noses, and aren't mammalian. Oh well.

Pro nipple as long as they're not more detailed than the rest of the body and don't stand out too much. Honestly, most of the time, a dot (for super cartoony styles) or a lineless circle that's a little darker/maybe a little pinker than the skin is enough most of the time. Save the detailed nipples for porn.

I was watching this cartoon loosely based around Arthurian legend, Prince Valiant something-or-other, and I had to stop because a random shirtless dude in an early episode had nipples drawn with two black circles (one for the nipple itself and one for the areola, I assume) colored in with pink and it squicked me out, it just drew too much attention to itself.

(aka yes i do, ehh, they don't bother me, but it's not like I go out of the way to look at them /okay this is getting weird;;/ most of my problem is seeing them on other people...)

I don't really have a preference, but I will say that BL is really weird when you have the seme licking the uke's nipples and the mangaka didn't bother to draw the nipples. -_-

I remember seeing some really dirty anime once where you saw everything else but none of the women had nipples. It looked weird.
