Well, as a kid I desperately wanted to be called 'Rose', because i hated my given name.

I named my pet budgie Rose, instead.

Now I'm okay with my name, but i did still name myself - Tabaqui. :D

Something longer and less old fashioned (well, old fashioned is cool if it is literary and interesting, but Ruth is just short and dull and boring).

I did name myself. It was a religious thing. (Name is Hannah.)

My parents were going to name me Amy Lee, but settled on something equally basic instead. On occasion people have told me they expected me to have some unique/different kind of name, one chick insisted I change it to 'Ocean';; No idea why.

Even with all that, I have no idea what I'd change my name to offhand;;

I would give myself a name considered sexy for women, like Samantha or Roxanne, and- once people heard that name- watch as they almost injure themselves trying to comment something like "You do NOT fit your name! It doesn't suit you! Your name is much prettier than you!"
