New to this thread, but I wouldn't consider a character to be childfree unless they actually say they don't want kids. Not needing a man or being career-focused isn't the same as not wanting kids. It's easy to become career-focused when you don't have a whole lot else going on (though it helps to find the work enjoyable and/or fulfilling). That doesn't mean the person doesn't want anything else, ever. Shows that take place in a workplace naturally focus on the characters' working lives, as well. I also wouldn't consider a character being ambivalent about kids to be childfree, either.
