Hermione and Ginny being friends is canon and that's all I'm going to say about that

More fics about Hermion, Ginny, and Luna being friends and hanging out

Yes, they are. But they aren't best friends. Hermione's best friends are Ron and Hermione. People often seem to write it like girls have to be best friends with girls and boys with boys and diminish Hermione's role in Harry's life.

Rowling always seems vaguely revolted by female friendships in canon, tbh. Like, Hermione and Ginny are friends by dint of their relationships to the guys around them, but we rarely get much in the way of what they'd talk about beyond that.

I thought the Ginny and Luna friendship was great! It was natural and comfortable, and in several scenes we saw them hanging out and just being teenagers together.

I wouldn't expect a book from a teenage boy's POV to relate the intricacies of female friendships.
