That's how I honestly read the books when I was younge and then I went online to look for the fics and everything (even the fics set in the past) was Sirius/Remus and I was like ???
I obviously ship and let ship, but that one still doesn't work for me cause of my initial readings of the books.

This is how I feel. Like, I don't mind that Sirius/Remus is popular. It just seems strange to me that it is more popular than Sirius/James. Sure, Remus was the one we actually met. But Sirius just seemed so James-focused to me almost exclusively.

Sirius was James-focused but James was unavailable for Sirius, as too Lily-focused himself, and unrequited pining only takes shippers so far, while Remus was here and there were several years between books #3 and #6 before his romance with Tonks got shoe-horned in?
(I don't really know. I was never very interested in James, I shipped Sirius/Remus because I was interested in Remus first and foremost and, well, Sirius happened to be shippable with him.)

That makes sense. I don't know that any of them was a favorite, but I was interested in Sirius as a character, and his relationship with James was always one of the more interesting aspects of his character to me. Plus, I do love a best friends ship.
