Re: What is a place you want to visit but never will.

Personally, I feel similarly. There are tons of places in the US I'd like to visit, but I'm just so disgusted by the politics of the country right now that I have no desire to spend my money there. The US is not the only country I feel this way about, it's just the one I'm currently the most disenchanted with, because only a couple of years ago the state of US politics seemed a lot more on the fence, and now it's leaned hard in a direction I'm disgusted by. Maybe in time the country will take definitive steps to begin to right itself, but until then, I'm just to disheartened and disturbed to want to go there.

I disagree that America, as a whole, is boring and tacky, though.

This is the way I feel about Europe.

+1

+ when my parents visited Europe during the W. Bush years, a bunch of separate people they met casually in various countries asked them to explain why they voted for him (they didn't, but hey, all people from the same country are the same, right?). I'm not interested in going through version 2.0 of that.

There are some countries in Europe that I'm pretty unimpressed with. But there are also quite a few European countries whose examples I can only wish my country and many others would follow.
