(Anonymous) 2019-02-17 11:42 am (UTC)(link)It also doesn't occur to them that art is also _taught_ just like Maths or Chemistry and without it, becoming good is rather difficult and takes even more time. ('My 3 year old son could paint this' - no, dear, he couldn't. It's the lack of understanding how art works that makes you think that.)
Talent, at best, may be an elevated interest in a subject, persistence, and some brain processing that allows you to learn quicker/notice more/connect more dots (which on itself is useless without putting effort in developing it). What people mean by talent is more like 'nature/god gave you this amazing gift and you're sort of a vessel that contains it and your conscious input into it is minimal and irrelevant'. That is annoying.
