The show’s only redeeming qualities are Lana and Robert.

Pretty much.

Even Robert couldn't save Rumplestiltskin for me after a few seasons. The way they went back and forth with him and kept having him cross the event horizon and then go back to good and we were supposed to forgive him every time. He just became too unlikable. At least they stopped doing that with Regina after season 2. Her redemption wasn't very successful. But her story didn't ruin seeing Lana on the screen for me the way Rumple's story did with Robert.

NAYRT—I think I would’ve had a hard time still being a Rumple fan if I hadn’t stopped watching when Neal died, and only kept up with the show via the fandom. But maybe I would’ve been more comfortable liking Regina if I’d stuck with it—I didn’t/don’t hate her, but I hate that the writers just ignored her rape and murder of Graham, who I didn’t even like, but rape isn’t suddenly okay/less bad because it’s a hot woman raping a guy.

And the fact that the writers kept writing woman on man rape/abuse (Zelena with Rumple and especially Robin, Rapunzel with Hook) makes me think one of them has a fetish or something. Every time I thought I’d catch up watching the show, there was another awful spoiler that kept me away. And lionizing Hook while he was still actively being a sleaze didn’t help.

Ugh, Hook. Don't get me started. I honestly wish I'd quit before I did. I was really into Regina when I was into the show, mostly because I was really attracted to Lana. But yes, the fact that they ignored her rape of Graham was disturbing. And she never earned her redemption. It was all "she's good now, so no one can bring up anything she did ever even though she barely apologized and never made amends."

It's a good message.

I like that the setup allows for really easy and extensive crossover fics.

The only thing redeeming about this show is that it introduced me to Lana Parilla who is gorgeous and perfect and needs to be in more things.
