Yeah, S1 was too grimdark for me. S2 is just fun, and we're learning more about Michael, too: she's really fleshing out as such a terrific character. And Number One is a perfect foil for Pike! Oh I'm hoping for more scenes between them. And yeah, Pike is a hottie in a retro kinda way.

People keep saying this and it's gotten to the point where I think I really need to actually watch the show. I got so turned off by S1.

I did like S1, there were some good elements to it. But S2 is so much more what I wanted from a Star Trek show. I've gone from feeling like "this is an OK sci-fi series that just happens to be called Star Trek" to "Now -this- is Star Trek!"
