The main character is basically destined to have this guy (human-looking alien) end up being her boyfriend, if I read the dynamics right.

But the two women there are like BFFs from way back, and they could easily be girlfriends based on the old "reconnecting friends and romance ensues" trope (and if it's not a trope I insist that it be one :P )

Not OP, but am really enjoying the show. There's canon bi Michael and gay Alex. I wasn't sold in the pilot, but it gets better with each episode.
