Yeah, I think there are definitely some instances where I've thought "I wish they hadn't shown that." I love Night Of The Demon, but the big reveal of the demon really undermined the atmosphere on rewatches for me, since it looks like... well, like the monster from the old Chewits ads. Obviously monster effects weren't at their best in the 50's, but still.
