My mom is the same. There's 23 years between her and her oldest sister. There's also 4 other sisters in between there, but the second youngest is still 10+ years older than mom.

Woah! Someone with a bigger gap than me! I am legitimately impressed. There's no one between my sister and me, so we were pretty much raised as only children. XD

Yeah, mom was raised pretty much as an only child too, since most of mom's sisters had left the nest when she was growing up too. One of her best friends growing up was her eldest sister's daughter. There's only few years between them. Consequently I'm the same age as her first daughter, so it's like my branch of the family is dragging a generation behind. :D

I'm glad my sister had her kids a little late, so there's a 10+ year between them and me. I would've just died if I'd grown up side-by-side with those assholes.

!!! My sister and I are also 22 years apart and I'm the younger. All of my siblings are in their 50s while I'm 33.

I am finding people who know this weird experience and it is great! Also lumped into the whole situation is everyone assuming your parents are your grandparents, or your sibling(s) are your parents.

You know, I always thought that the older I got, the less often people would mistake my parents for my grandparents, but. Nope! My boss mistook my mom for my grandma in the family photo I brought for the family photo wall.

You've got me beat. My brothers are 13 & 10 years older. I'm sure you get asked this all the time, but: You share both parents with your sister?

Yup! They got started young and ended old.

I had a friend in first grade who was younger than her own niece, and it sounded like there was a decent age gap, too. I never asked for specifics, but in retrospect, I assume there may have been two generations of teen pregnancies in there, with my friend having been more of a late-in-life baby.

My family has always kept its generations very discreet. There was about 20 years between my youngest aunt and my oldest cousin, and another 20 years between my youngest cousin and the oldest child born to a cousin. There's 15 of us cousin's across a 15 year spread, but we're being really slow about having kids.
