(I just wrote a paper about the "image" of scientists that I managed to bring the two of them into, and then had to redo like half of it to get rid of all these little throwaway comments that made it clear how very gay I think they are. Also the first part of the assignment was to draw a picture, so in my (terrible) one I made it look like they were holding hands. And then I was like, "Crap, we have to turn these in?")
Also, they were entirely canon. Witness, from The Amazing Transparent Man experiment:
[Dr. F and Frank have opened a bed and breakfast; Frank, now Auntie McFrank, has gone to get the breakfast for guests Ted and Barb] Ted: Now, Clay, you and Auntie McFrank, you, um, are you...? Dr. Forrester: ...partners. Ted and Barb: Oh... [nodding, exchanging "Ahh..." looks] [awkward silence] Dr. Forrester: Yes, we're... [trails off] [Frank reappears with breakfast; they all greet him, relieved]
