How is it a lie for a straight women to say she can't relate to being attracted to women? If it's about porn, she can't relate to having sex with a woman. If it's fluff, she can't relate to having fuzzy feelings about a woman. Why is that a hard concept to wrap around your head?

I wouldn't say it's a lie, but it's very obviously a much more complicated reality than just saying that they "can't relate" to f/f fic makes it sound

Oh man, this, thank you.

Like, I love women. The characters I tend to feel the most deeply attached to are women. But for me it's always an "I admire you so fucking much, holy shit I wish I could be you, I wish I could be like you, be that tough, that strong, that competent, that gorgeous, that articulate, that brave, you are like my alterego now, when you do awesome things I feel proud as though it were me doing those things, fffuck I love you."

I'm not attracted to female characters in a sex way, though, and so if there's going to be loving and sexing, for my enjoyment I'd like it to be with a man involved. Not that it's not completely cool if it's f/f - I just probably won't feel compelled to read smutty fic about it in that case.
