How personally do you take anon comments?

(Anonymous) 2019-02-27 12:18 am (UTC)(link)
I'm just a burbling mess

Re: How personally do you take anon comments?

(Anonymous) 2019-02-27 12:21 am (UTC)(link)
Not that much. I assume mean comments aren't really directed at me per say, but more a reflection of how the anon feels. It's easier as an anon though, I'm too much of a wuss to have an account.

I'm OP of #6, and honestly? There are a lot of you I want to fistfight.

I usually just complain to friends to get the annoyance out of my system instead.

But a lot of y'all suck. For real.

Why come here then if it makes you so angry?

Re: How personally do you take anon comments?

(Anonymous) 2019-02-27 12:27 am (UTC)(link)
I never once said it made me angry. I used the word annoyance.

I come here because I have secrets. Because I like reading other people's secrets. 'Cause I like a handful of the named users. 'Cause some of you are really quite nice. In fact, I would bet good money that a lot of the anons that I think are shitty in one instance are lovely in another.

I've been coming here since 2009. I'm not going to stop anytime soon.

You're definitely not the only one. I feel very much the same way about this comm. And I totally hear you about complaining to friends; I do the same. Fortunately I have friends who are also internet geeks, so we usually understand each other's internet grievances, lol.

Personally I lol more at OPs that come in act annoyed that anons "misinterpret" their secret

Like if you have 10 responses to your secret and 8 of them are "misinterpreting" what you meant then maybe you should have stated what you meant more clearly... or aren't as righteous as you think you are. But no, it is the masses who are wrong!

Re: How personally do you take anon comments?

(Anonymous) 2019-02-27 12:43 am (UTC)(link)
I should add & clarify that this isn't all the time, sometimes it is just the one person out of ten who does misinterpret and the other 9 don't, in which case the OPs are good

Re: How personally do you take anon comments?

(Anonymous) 2019-02-27 12:50 am (UTC)(link)
In some cases I agree, but in other cases...eh. There are a lot of people who seem to go "Some people on tumblr are like X, so now I assume that if your opinion reminds me even remotely of anything those tumblr users have said, you must also be like X."

There's definitely an 'assume the worst' attitude that some people default to.

nayrt

This. I mean, ayrt is also correct that there's been multiple secrets that I suspect are from the same person about how their secrets are consistently being misinterpreted and it's probably due to poor communication from the OP.

But yeah, a lot of people read a secret that doesn't actually say X, but they're reacting as though it is, because some people elsewhere on the internet say X. It's kind of nuts, tbh.

Eh, not very.

For posted secrets? Eh, not very. I once got called shit for brains and just shrugged.

But honestly, some of the stuff in GC has made me want to cut people.

Mostly don't. I don't expect everyone to agree with me or like me. I think some people here can be rude, but I don't take it personally.

Re: How personally do you take anon comments?

(Anonymous) 2019-02-27 01:41 am (UTC)(link)
Not at all. I mean most of my comments are pretty much ignored, and I've never been actively insulted either way... So, yeah. I guess being boring has it's upsides?
(seeing other people going out of their way to be actively hostile doesn't bother me either. I might say something about it once in a blue moon, but they just come off as really bad attention seeking trolls, so I just ignore them.)

I've mostly abandoned the comm, and I think I submitted one secret in the last six months? So yeah. I'm not thrilled with it doesn't really make me feel like participating and putting anything interesting, personal, or weird out there. I no longer consider myself part of the community, although I check in once in awhile. *shrug*

I'm sorry to hear that.

I take them very personally but I'm aware that it is not a rational thing to do.

Re: How personally do you take anon comments?

(Anonymous) 2019-02-27 04:28 am (UTC)(link)
Not very. How could I? Most people I don't know enough to care about their opinion. Some people are frankly, kind of idiots and it'd be silly of me to place any importance in anything they say. Especially about fandom-related topics.

Re: How personally do you take anon comments?

(Anonymous) 2019-02-27 11:07 am (UTC)(link)
When I make secrets, I intentionally exaggerate my opinions to get a stronger response out of commenters. And I only to reply to comments to further stir the pot.

So...

I don't. Cause none of the anons know me. Or if they do, well it is pretty pathetic to have a go on anon rather than when logged in when we could talk eh journal to journal. Mostly though I find people on here really nice if big on sarcasm which is not my thing XD
