The actress talks about it in some interviews. There is a certain physicality about the way she fights that female characters aren't usually allowed to have. Within that movie you can see it in the difference between the way Valkyrie and Hela fight. Hela is more powerful, but her moves are very feminine. Valkyrie fights more like Thor than Hela. Valkyrie fights with her whole body and doesn't make moves that are more about flexibility than anything else.
