Anyway, I admitted to being unsympathetic for the fact I don't care about victms of rape being offended by rape fantasies, but I also can't see why they would be. Honestly, it's like.. me being butthurt about people who hate their own father just because I'm an orphan. They're not responsible for what happened to you, neither are they saying it's a good thing it happened. That's all.

I don't see how the glorification of sexual violence is at all comparable to hating one's father. A trauamtic event isn't the same as a generic soft spot. Rape is a horrible thing. When people portray rape as something that isn't horrible, but is in fact enjoyable and erotic, then of course people are going to get upset. The same applies to murder, domestic violence, etc. Writing things like that basically implies that it's alright or even good that it happened. It's not a rational response at all, it's an emotional response, but that doesn't mean that it's an unreasonable one.

I don't know. I don't think people need to stop writing rapefic or enjoying rape fantasies, but it bothers me to see people that are so fucking concerned with defending themselves that they can't even stop to try to understand why what they like might upset some people. It doesn't mean you have to stop writing or feel like a horrible person. It just means you should have some, as the OP put it, "fucking sensitivity."

"Fucking sensitivity", which they should learn by getting raped themselves apparently. Do they feel guilty for having that fantasy? Some yes maybe, others have proved to be totally uninterested. Does she feel guilty for wishing horrible things upon those people? She says she is, but is it really the same thing?
I know and understand that trauma made her bitter, but I can also see where all this butthurt-ness here comes from.

I really don't believe that she truly and genuinely wishes rape on these people in the same way I don't believe that anyone who has a rape fantasy truly and genuinely wishes to be raped.

I know, I just meant to say that I kind of understand why the response to this secret has been mostly bitter or wank-ish.

You know, I think putting a warning on a fic with non-con/rape scenes is a sufficient demonstration of sensitivity to the subject. People who are bothered by it can avoid it, but it's not up to the authors (as established) to alter their stories.

If the OP is in a fandom where people aren't putting proper warnings on their stories, then I think they have a serious complaint. Otherwise, well, there's something in fandom to upset or offend everybody.

Beyond warnings, I don't know what on EARTH the OP wants from people to demonstrate their "sensitivity," other than, "don't be turned on by things that upset me!" Which, sorry, no go.

Well, take a look at the comments in reply to this secret and you'll see plenty of insensitive responses. Obviously I can't speak for the OP but I'd say dispensing with this attitude that anyone who thinks rape fantasy is gross is just being an oppressive bitch might be helpful.

I agree- while I'll admit to being turned on by a few things that I shouldn't, I would never bring it up with someone who'd actually experienced it. (Though I also think alot of the people who've been responding are trolls...nothing like the internet to bring out anonymous cruelty.)

Then let's make this comparison - I used to self-harm. A lot, actually. People write about cutters as if it's humorous, or as if it's just about seeing beautiful blood, or as if it's fun because they're "dark and edgy". I never had fun with it. I was in pain to the point where I had issues functioning. Am I uncomfortable around people that write fic about cutting? NO. IT'S FICTION. What they write about has no effect on me, nor does it mean they want to actually cut themselves or think that I did it because I'm dark and goffic and loved it. It means they want to write or read about a romanticized version that's about as detached from real cutting as fictional buttsex with no mention of poo or limitations on the possible positions is from real buttsex. Fiction is fiction. Period. Completely different beast. The secret OP would be better served by building up a tolerance to people who are different from her than by whining about it.

In some ways, I think the internet can be a harder and crueler place than the real world. It forces a person to really thicken one's skin and strengthen one's psyche. Or maybe I'm just taking things too seriously in a place that doesn't take anything seriously. BAWWWWW.
