106: Yeah, because as soon as someone's arrested, they're totally guilty of whatever crime they were arrested for, and therefore deserve to die.

120: Sweets! OMG, that's hysterical... I totally need to mention this to my friend (we both watch Bones). ^_^

130: "Just becasue a show kills off almost ever character doesn't mean it's good". Amen, brother/sister! Case in point: Fushigi Yyugi...

137: I'm with you up to the point of the universe being indifferent to us (I'm not so sure about the "running out of time" part). We're just another form of life. no more or less significant in the scheme of things than ants or worms or flowers. As for "no meaning to life", I'm with you there, as well... but far from being hopeless, I think that means that we get to decide, both as a race and as individuals, what life means for ourselves. And I find that much more exciting and empowering than the idea that we were designed to satisfy the whims of some deity or set of deities.
Oh, and: Lovecraft rules. So hard.

184: Yeah... Well, Guts is pretty f'd up (who isn't in that manga?), and I'd be surprised if this story has a happy ending by any definition of the word.
Who do you ship them with, btw? Just curious.

Exactly! I realize that for some people, the idea that we don't have reason and purpose to exist is frightening, and I can understand why they search for a purpose in life. I would never look down on someone for trying to find a meaning to life. But I like the thought that I determine where I'm going, and what my purpose is. ^_^

I used to be with you on that, but then I came to the conclusion that humanity was going to die soon and leave nothing behind, no matter how much meaning we made while we were here. To help with that I've been doing the fandom thing and turning to Watchmen for reassurance that linear notions of time are false and our existence will always be/always has been valuable no matter how long humanity lasts. But, you know. It's not always so comforting.

And then there's Lovecraft. Who made the callousness of the universe seem like an awesome thing of tentacles and madness. Which was really pretty cool.

Guts == Griffith
Casca == Farnese

Of course, G/G isn't any MORE healthy than Guts/Casca to say the least, but...I kind of think that the two of them dying together would be the most fitting end to the series. A lot of Guts fans think differently, though...

I'm not as familiar with the later (post eclipse) manga, but yeah I think that works, too. ^_^

Actually, I can see Guts dying, but it'd be nice if Casca did get a happy ending. But then, a lot of the characters didn't get what they deserved (in both good and bad ways), so I'm not holding my breath.
