I've been wanting to make basically this same secret for a while now, but I hadn't worked up the courage. I had a roommate in college who liked non-con with significant age difference (and, quite often, the victim was underage). After about a month of her trying to "get me into it", I told her about my rape and childhood sexual abuse. Then I changed rooms. She didn't understand what the problem was.

There were so very many times that a part of me wished she'd had the same shit that happened to me happen to her, just so she would shut the fuck up about how "awesome" non-con would be.

Anyway, thanks for making this secret.

PS to the OP (because I can't remember to post everything in one go, it seems): I spent years in therapy learning that it's perfectly normal to have these sorts of feelings (wishing what happened to you on to other people). It's a perfectly human, rational approach to coping with what happened to you. If you ever want to talk about it in semi-anonymity, there are several very good support communities on lj.

Yes; _survivors_ has helped me through a lot. Applications are carefully screened, and the mods keep a very close watch on the postings and take threats to community integrity very seriously.

I'm not 100% certain if it would affect the application or not, but the mod's email is survivormod@gmail.com if you wanted to double check with them. I think that they understand that people belong to various snarking communities (I have a couple, too) without any intention of posting the flocked entries from the comm. I think mostly they look to see that you have a journal that's more than a week old and you've posted in it.

I had friends pestering me with various pairings, kinks, etc. that I hated from my guts. I told them so, they understood, no feelings were hurt.

No need to explain further. The roommate was an idiot for pestering the OP but the OP was an idiot for letting herself be pestered.

I think you rather missed the point in assuming that I didn't tell her to stop it. It's not as if I bottled up everything for a month, just taking it. Point in fact, I did. Often. With strong wording. When she didn't get it after a month, I moved. For most of the world, that's not called letting myself be pestered.

Inevitably, someone always wants to know why and explaining is terrifying. I doubt you can understand what growing up for me was like, and the secrets that a child learns how to keep when they come from the sort of environment that I was raised in. A lot of abuse victims learn to play things close to their chest. For me, that meant telling my roommate she was being gross and changing the subject. Part of the reason it took a month to tell her specifically why she was being gross in my opinion was because I never wanted to tell her. People look at you differently, and I don't really seek out pity.

In any case, I should have been less pithy in my original comment, it seems. I didn't mean to cause additional wank. I just wanted to offer my support to 104.
