You know what? I'm sorry you were assaulted (and calling it that doesn't make it any less vile either, you know), but that does not give you the right to be the thought police. Non-con/rape fic is fiction. FICTION. IT IS NOT REAL. NO REAL PEOPLE WERE HURT. NONE. Why the FUCK do so many damn people have such monumental difficulty with that concept??

No, that means your 'friends' are bitches and you should tell them that you aren't reading it, period, and then distance yourself from them if they can't respect that.

Probably because there are a lot of other people who actually lived it who have entirely different reactions to things. 1 in 3 women has survived sexual assault, and fans of rape-fantasy fic know that survivors are just as likely to be involved in reading or writing the stuff as anyone else.

I am totally sympathetic with people who find it triggering wishing to avoid it and believe that there should be warnings.

But personally, what I find triggering isn't rape-fic, it's the song that was playing in the background when it happened, which, sucks to be me, is a popular song by a famous band, and after 27 years, I can finally not run away and freeze when I hear it...yet I can't make the whole world never play it again, you know?

Agreed. The fic is therapeutic. What is triggering is the movie that I had seen just before it happened... a movie that is on TV at least once a week.

Gee, I don't know. Why the FUCK do so many damn people have such a monumental difficulty with the concept that some people who have been through any sort of trauma might not enjoy reading FICTION that romanticizes that same type of trauma?
