104: Aside from your extremely flawed reasoning (you were traumatised enough so that you wish people who write a certain type of fiction would experience it? WTF?) I think that denouncing fictional kinks is a complete waste of time.

I mean sure, rape is one of my few true squicks and it even makes me physically unsettled (which is why I don't read it), but I'm not foolish enough to confuse a writer's fiction with her real-life values and choices.

106: Let's hope that no innocent person is arrested then. Because that never happens, right?

107: Shallow? Hm, I don't think it would be shallow exactly. Just a bit masochistic.

108: Rowling is derailed? And middle-aged?

118: You're sure you're not just seeing the abysmal way female characters are portryed in fiction, the lazy way they're developed (if they're lucky enough to have any character development at all that is), and how relationships between a man and a woman is taken for granted to be romantic to such a degree that no one bothers to do a proper buildup for a heterosexual couple?

Yeah, I've been watching Katekyo Hitman Reborn a lot these past few days, and incredibly enough all female characters have been reduced to plot robots. They seem to live in the kitchen and are never told anything. I mean, if I were transported ten years into the future and shot at by a crazy flying reaper man, I'd at least ask some questions!

Er, I suppose I became a bit annoyed by the overwhelming sexism. Otherwise I think KHR is rather good, and has quite a few interesting and original ideas, so the dismal portrayal of female characters is a big disappointment.

Re: 118, not OP

I have no idea what that fandom is, but considering that the OP has pictures from numerous other fandoms on her secret, I'm guessing she's just a heterophobic misogynist.

Did you happen to read the first part of the secret? Where I said I would never REALLY wish it on anyone? It's a fleeting emotional response that sometimes occurs when someone who calls herself my friend gets pissed at me because I won't read her fucking rape!fic.

First: In that moment you thought it, no matter how fleeting and how guilty you felt afterward, you meant it. So stop trying to say that 'would never REALLY wish it on anyone' in a bazillion comments, because you did mean it. Or you wouldn't feel guilty at all.

Second: You need new friends who aren't so shallow as to be mad when you don't read their fic, and friends who can understand or at least sympathize with what you've been going through. Get some new friends.

That's like arguing that all people who fantasize about rape really want to raped, because they've thought it fleetingly.

Nope, just reacting to the comment that somehow writing fiction has got anything to do with yopur real life values. I realise you don't want your friend to be raped, but your justifying of your emotional response didn't sit well with me.

That aside, her being pissed off because you won't read her fanfic is a strange and wanky reaction. Rape is a common kink, but it should be evident that not everybody can enjoy it.

Hahaha I am lame and jump in for a KHR DISCUSSION!!!!1!!11!

Okay, so, I too wish the girls would get way, way more screen time. BUT. Okay, so Bianchi has no excuse. I will give her that. But right or wrong (and I think it's far from the best way to go about things), Tsuna and company are really, really trying not to scare Kyoko and Haru. Are trying to keep them safe. And really, it's a slope they don't have the time or the will to go down, and I can sorta understand that- telling someone "oh uh we were all just transported ten years into the future and a mafia family is out to kill us all, and is sorta succeeding... sit here while I go run headlong into almost-certain-death, kay?" is... probably never a good idea. XD; Haru and Kyoko need to be told things, certainly, but Haru's not entirely out of the loop, and they may not be doing it well, but the characters certainly do have Kyoko's best interests at heart. I am also really, really glad they're safe (... safe? right? D:) at the base, because they ARE normal girls untrained in fighting and would not stand a snowball's chance in hell during that raid.

As for other females, D: I-Pin is awesome but she does need to show up a LOT more to count, I'll give you that. But Lal Mirch is pretty damn kickass even now, and once she's back up, she'll just get moreso... and Chrome? Chrome is blowing me away. Phew ♥ That girl is really stepping up to the plate, and I'm glad of it.

Also, Iris. Iris is pretty cool. Very, very D: but pretty cool, and I'm sure the Cervello will serve some big purpose... I'm also sure at least one of the other Arcobaleno is a woman. Soooooo~ just wait for it. :>

Yay! Er, I just started watching this week, so I haven't found any discussions yet, even though I'm craving some, heh.

I've just got to the part where they're transported into the future (the episode where the seasoned fighter (?) Bianchi is unable to defeat the bee-man, to be more exact) so I don't know who Iris is. Chrome showed up briefly in the ring conflict, but was so out-classed that Mukuro took her place almost immediately.

Tsuna and company are really, really trying not to scare Kyoko and Haru.

Oh yeah, I've got no problem with that at all, actually. It's natural to want to protect those you care about, especially since they don't know how to fight (which there's nothing wrong with either).

The problem is that Haru and Kyoko don't try and find things out themselves. Not fight, just find out what's happening! They're just asked to take care of cooking and cleaning (good grief), and sort of just happily go along with it, no questions asked! And then, knowing they're in danger, they sneak out. Twice! That's not how any sane person would react in that situation.

That's what I mean about them being plot robots; they don't exist for their own sake as characters, but are only there to facilitate certain events in the plot. Also, they often do it in a way that defies common sense.

I'm actually more comfortable with the crush that Tsuna has got on Kyoko than with her characterisation; falling for the cute, kind girl without really knowing her (their longest conversation is still three minutes, I think...) is typical when you're fifteen. If they try to make it seem like true love, though... *sporfle*

I'd also be much happier if the female characters had more variety in goals and ideals. They all seem to be fuelled by romantic love. I'm not caught up yet, though, so I'm going to wait and see what happens.

Lal Mirch seem to be more of a "real" character from what I can see. She has a history, development (albeit off-screen, but she's a side character so that's fine), and conflict. And her actions have internal logic, so I like her already.

Now, despite all my complaining, I really, relly like this anime. It's really just this one thing that's bothering me, heh. Oh, and Tsuna's parents. I could write a whole essay on them (which ties in to how women are portrayed, because his mother gives off the worst Stepford vibes since the film itself)!
