That's about why I tuned out: the bad guys were just getting too ridiculous, which somehow made them too boring. Apparently every serial Unsub has a superobvious signature that makes it abundantly clear that this is Serial Killer X and not some other asshole, serial or otherwise, operating in the area. Every Serial Killer apparently has the endless amount of time/disposable income needed to create elaborate death traps to personally torture conventionally beautiful white women over several days. All of them are master electricians, carpenters, plumbers, builders, etc. and all of them can safely miss work for several days without getting fired.

And of course, The Profile Is Never Wrong! If anything disagrees with The Profile, it's wrong, but not The Profile! Pay no attention to real-world evidence that points to profiling being closer to guesswork than, y'know, an accurate science! Pay no attention to the fact that most of the cases on the show probably could have been solved with ordinary police work, were it not for the fact that the show was putting their finger on the scale.
