I FEEL THIS IN MY FUCKINGMG SOUL.

In general I wanted to see more interaction between the other riders and their dragons. They were just kinda there most of the time which was so disappointing.

For Astrid in particular I wouldve loves more focus about her that wasn’t related to Hiccup. And I adored Stormfly’s design and loved what little bits we had between her and Astrid.

Man, HTTYD3 was really disappointing in that aspect. Hell the series in general was like that. We don’t really get to know the others and their dragons.

I think this is why I enjoyed the Netflix series more than the movies. There was a ton more character development for all the kids and their dragons.

Yeah, the character development in the Netflix series was fantastic, as was the world-building. I've come to prefer it to the movies as well, especially now that the third one is out. I saw it on Sunday and while I think it was overall fairly good and very, very pretty, the ending brought out some pretty intense memories and emotions in me regarding the death of my horse Sharif last year. There were a lot of parallels between Hiccup saying goodbye to Toothless and my saying goodbye to Sharif, with the obvious difference being that Toothless didn't die and they were reunited later on. I ended up having a minor breakdown, writing out a rambling, wangsty tumblr post about it and then collapsing into bed for nearly 16 hours, that's how messed up I was. But I digress.

One of the other things I really liked about the Netflix show was that it did a pretty decent job of matching up the continuity of the show with that of the first two movies, but it really doesn't fit with that of the third one at all, to the point where I think it's pretty much an entirely separate universe. Too many of the elements of the Netflix series don't work at all with the ending of Hidden World in particular, and honestly, I'm kind of glad they don't. I like my hopeful HTTYD AU with dragon/human harmony slowly but surely growing. Not to mention that the show has an entire island of flying lesbians. What's not to love?

Also, Hiccup/Astrid/Heather OT3.
