City (or similiar) created by superior beings standing empty, full of both amazing gadgets and dangers, waiting to be explored.

I encountered this the first time time as a kid in a book series from a library. It was a (pre-?)teen novel series about a park created by a futuristic tech firm, that melded nature and tech. Only children were allowed in there, and there was no map or anything - they got to explore it themselves, find hidden control centers or just natural caves, establish their own rules and so on. Filmsy pretext, but the adventures were cool.

SGA's Atlantis is the only grown-up version of this that I know. I guess the Men of Letters bunker could be sth similar on a smaller scale, but Supernatural never really cared.
