teashadephoenix had it exactly right - it was a serial killer who took his victims' eyeballs, then used them in taxidermied animals. It was supposed to be a serious "Holy shit!" moment where the team are horrified to make the discovery but tbh, it was more funny than scary.

Tbh I can't attest to the build-up of this discovery, but even knowing the context... I mean... It's too over-the-top plus that image, can't take it very seriously
