Why not read up on how to analyse media or study how other people make videos? You can make a tumblr (or reddit posts or whatever) with your thoughts on a piece of media and see what feedback you get.

Also, keep in mind that being popular on youtube also has to do with luck and timing. Not getting views doesn’t mean your channel sucks so don’t give up too quickly.
