This is making me think of Bruce Willis' role in Friends, where he's playing the "protective" dad of the 19-year-old that Ross is dating. I mean, I wasn't a big fan of Ross for dating a student at the university where he was a prof, but the bottom line is that a 19-year-old gets to decide who they date and who they have consensual sex with. But Bruce Willis' character sure didn't think his daughter should have that right. And it was very much played as funny and "normal protective dad behavior."
