Re: Things that you don't get how people enjoy.

Seconding this so hard. It actually sucks, because I feel like I'd have closer friendships with people if I didn't hate talking on the phone so much, but I really just do.

I did, however, manage to train myself out of my hatred for practical phone calls. I used to hate them, but I've actually become pretty comfortable with making practical calls now. It's just the social ones I still find excruciating.

Glad I'm not alone here. I'm fine with making calls at work but if my phone rings I get this enormous sense of dread, even if it's a friend. I just worry that I'll panic and talk too fast/say the wrong thing/come off as a weirdo. I've tried to explain to people that I hate phone calls and if I don't answer it's not because I don't want to be in touch, my brain just can't handle the anxiety most days.

You're definitely not alone. I always just feel so awkward and stupid and anything I might've had to say goes right out of my head and I'm just like, "Umm...so, yeah..."

Even as a teen I never talked on the phone with my friends just for fun. I'd call them to arrange a hangout and I was fine with doing that, but I don't think I ever once gabbed to a friend for hours. I even thought for a while that it was just a tv stereotype that teen girls do that with their friends, until I met some girls who actually did monopolize their landline for hours.
