There is no source for the 8 season claim but I think what was meant was that the series writers have received a document from gerard outlining the complete comic plot including the ones that have not been drawn yet so that they can work with it and I think it said that there were about 8 more graphic novels planned so I assume this is where that number comes from

I don't think it will translate to 8 seasons though and I doubt they've worked out the whole plot for the series that far ahead already

Still, excited to see what the series has in store for us in the future since I actually don't particularly like the comics despite having read them
Always thought there were good concepts but they never got explored in-depth, which is what the show is doing instead - awesomely so even
