It literally does not matter one single fucking bit what Leon is like in the games.

Resident Evil/Biohazard has the most extensive list of retcons in the history of gaming. Everything from characterization to backstory to timeline to ...everything.

In the original version of Resident Evil 2, Leon was a rookie cop with no previous experience who was late to his first day on the force because he stayed out late partying the night before.

Fast forward twenty years later, he has had various types of military service prior to becoming an officer, his hair is no longer red, he may or may not have been close friends with the PoTUS...

Like, fuck it. I'll ship him with DMC 3 Dante if I want. No fucks given. There's no sacred canon to destroy here, folks.

Considering DMC 1 was supposed to be a Resident Evil title which then got completely revamped... Dante is basically AU Leon with white hair.

In one of the secret unlock scenes of the original 1998 RE2 it reveals that Leon was working for the FBI or something the whole time, or at least some organization, it's been awhile.

Source? I beat that game about 10 times back in the day and unlocked absolutely everything and I do not remember this.

Pretty sure you're talking about one of the later retcons.
