As long as it works for you! I honestly like it a lot when fiction is weird and self-indulent, it feels more interesting and personal. I don't want all the sharp edges pared off. And sometimes, someone else's self-indulgence aligns with mine, and then it's great.

it's very normal :)

I thought most people re-read their own fics now and then. I mean, for me it's partly that I want to see how I've improved or can grow but also there's the more simple explanation. I wrote it for a reason right? It's because I liked that idea. Makes sense to me that I'd enjoy reading it as well.

Did I

Did I accidentally post this in my sleep?

Are you my secondary personality?

Wtf, OP. I'm feeling personally attacked by this relatable content right now.

You couldn't have written this in your sleep because clearly *I* wrote it in my sleep. I am Jack's rereading habit.

Anon, just remember this. On your deathbed, it may well be the case that no one remembers your fic or how self-indulgent it was. But you will very likely remember every moment and still find as much joy in it as you do now. So write your fic, enjoy it, and who knows, maybe one of your readers will turn out to have the exact same tastes as you and love the hell out of it too.

OP, I feel you.

I mean, I can't read older stuff without wanting to fix it, but I am in some SMALL freakin' fandoms. For a while I was stuck re-reading exactly one fic I hadn't written in one, in another there are three that aren't mine and one of them was written for me...

The curse of rarepair hell/having niche likes, I guess.

indulge yourself anon, you're the only person in this world who can indulge you as much as you can.
