Not a specific fandom but I prefer when the fics lean heavily into the Alpha's mental state and emotions instead of the others.

It's much more rarely done, but it's way more interesting to me to see 'Alpha' characters trying to deal with uncontrollable hypersexuality and the inability to ignore perceived threats or challenges and dominance and control freak-ish compulsions and other typically Alpha things that are rarely portrayed as the negatives and handicaps they are or would be in reality. Especially when it's an egalitarian universe where actions still have consequences and they're stuck dealing with literal biologially-mandated anger and aggression issues. Like taking every aspect of toxic masculinity, making it biological, then having characters struggle with and against it.
