Why is this style so fucking popular on tumblr anyway? I see garbage shit like this get thousands of notes regardless of fandom, but even the most gorgeously drawn fanart won't get half as much if it resembles a typically anime-esque style. It's like bulbous nose, shit anatomy, ugly skin deformities, birds nest hair, and trolly looking sameface is the pinnacle of art on there.

It's popular among fanartists because it's easy to imitate and quick to do without much effort and it's popular among consumers of fanart because a lot of fandom these days tends to be a huge circlejerk, especially if you can pretend to be all woke and shit about your preferences.
