op

Yes! That's why I was expecting fandom to be all over it.

Sometimes people are more interested in exploring things that haven't shown up in canon, I guess? So maybe there aren't more fics because it is a thing used in canon. And it isn't like Doctor Who, where time travel is an essential part of what it is. It exists, but it is a minor thing. So I think that may be why it isn't in fics much.

agreed. also fic in general tends to go for going in other directions with things so if the whole plot is time travel then it rules itself out. unless op wants a showdown of old!cherik going 'luls plz don't'

honestly time travel is a really difficult plot to make compelling

it's so easy to tip over into "everything is fated and doomed" or "everything is fixable and no consequences matter"

and it's hard to make the interlocking pieces feel smooth logistically and narritively

fandom generally trends toward lighter plot mechanics and more emotional development, so I'm not surprised tbh

Excuse you, I wrote multiple time travel fics in that fandom. 😋

Time travel is a very, very difficult trope to write. It's not as fun for the author as it is for the reader, so few writers attempt it.
