what is the first book series you remember waiting on the next one of?

For me it was Harry Potter. Book 5. I got it at midnight then stayed up until I had finished it, not letting my parents put the tv on in case there were spoilers. Bleary eyed I was done by morning. Wonderful experience tbh.

Harry Potter for me as well. First book I waited for was Order of the Phoenix.

Well, also the Star Wars EU. But I honestly can't remember which ones I was waiting for. Just, would get excited whenever a new one came out.

The Harry Potter books were such fantastic books to binge-read in a fervor.

For me it was the Animorphs series. Also, the Sweet Valley Junior High series (I'm not proud, lol).

I was really into the Sweet Valley books. Honestly, there were so few English books I could get in the Philippines. I could get Harry Potter, Star Wars, Sweet Valley, and Babysitters club. So I obsessed over all of them.

Animorphs for me too, and now that you remind me I used to read the babysitter's club little sister books before that too.

Oh yeah, my friend was into Babysitter's Club. For some reason we never swapped, but I'm fond of them because she'd always bring them over for sleepovers and leave them lying around. :)

Niice. I took a lot out of the library myself, but I definitely only scratched the surface of what there was. It's the Sweet Valley Twins series I actually read the most of (those ones with ~supernatural~ elements crack me up to think of now, but oh man I looooved those). Then I got into Junior Year. I was also secretly into Senior Year, but I was convinced my parents wouldn't approve, so I only read a few ~on the sly~, lol.

Which series was your fave?

I have a feeling there might have been something else, but I definitely remember waiting for the library to get the next new Animorphs book.

Animorphs. I had a subscription where I would get three books at once.

I started reading Pratchett’s stuff in my early teens, before it was all available in the US. When my rich uncle took my mom and I to the UK when I was 15 I don’t think I bought anything but Pratchett books.

The Wheel of Time series. Which is also the first book series I quit out of sheer frustration.

His Dark Materials.

The Babysitters Club and Animorphs don't really count because those had a new book every month, so it wasn't much of a wait.

Probably original release Goosebumps books.

After that it would be Pratchett's Discworld books and His Dark Materials series.

Nightrunner. I was super excited when the fourth book came out (there were 9 years in between the third and fourth) and I was rereading the series in anticpation of the new one, when I just...stopped halfway through rereading book 3, and never went back to the series for whatever reason. It's now been 11 years since book 4 came out, and even though I've gotten each new book as it's come out, I've never read any of them. I need to go back and reread book 1 since it's been 11 years and I don't remember much. I might do that when I have some time off work later in the year.
