Not really. There are countries that forbid you from naming your child unconventionally, for the sake of the child. If he wants to change his name to Sakura when he grows up, fine. But it's pretty poor parenting to choose a name that will probably get the kid teased and harassed during formative and impressionable childhood years (especially for such a superficial and ephemeral reason as fandom; do we really think OP will still be obsessed with CCS in a few years? 10 years from now?).

Also, 9 months <<< 18 years (or however long until he's old enough to legally change his name)

Maybe we should only let parents feed their kids a certain amount of calories for the day to prevent fatness. Kids make fun of that too! People are cruel, giving them a normal name stops a very small small portion of the torment.

Also, I still don't see what is so weird about this. I mean Sascha is considered a boy's name in some countries, but it's used pretty commonly for American girls. Sakura is really not that unconventional.

Well, I was more objecting to the "the right to name it whatever the fuck you want" than anything else. And just because kids torment each other over anything doesn't mean that parents shouldn't try their best to prevent that from happening to their children.

And really? I don't know anyone named Sakura who wasn't a female character from a Japanese series.

I don't think giving your kid a weird name is really setting them up for punishment. This coming from someone who had a name no one pronounced properly until 8th grade. Maybe that's why I'm like "Eh. They'll get over it."
I don't think a parent should feel obligated to give their kid a boring name because other kids with boring names might tease them once in 3rd grade.

Actually, in Bokusatsu Tenshi Dokuro-chan, the main male character's name is Sakura. I didn't see anyone give him BS about his name at all. Then again it IS an anime. But it's something you'll just get used to. Like boys being named Ashly and Sandy. Not that big a deal after it wears off.
